Spooks at Tradewinds

Whoohooo... or is it uhuuuuu? I really dunno. It's that time of year again. Spook-time. Spooks, coffins, skeletons and all kinds of bloody outfits are everywhere... Strangely enough kids seem to love it! That goes for the playfull minds in SL as well...

Halloween at Tradewinds

Ahab has been busy again. Not long ago he had the wooden boat show running. Now, it's all about Halloween at Tradewinds. There's all sorts of boats dressed in Halloween suits. Sails and hulls. Pumpkins everywhere.

Boats dressed up

It's quite a view. Too bad we cannot do this in RL. Well, we could, but it would be rather costly. Still, some ppl dress up their boats once a year in a crazy cruise from Copenhagen to Malmø. It's called ØRC. Google it and see how Danish sailors have fun.

Pirates reported

On the east coast of Tradewinds you'll find this "beautiful" tallship, complete with pirates, spooks and a giant squid. There are ehm... things inside, so it's lotsa fun to explore. This dude here I met on the lower deck. He seemed to be in a pretty good mood all things considered...

... and a bottle of rhum

There's another pirateship on the west side. It's not quite as covered with mushrooms, seaweed and other subsea-creatures, but... there's more action onboard. That skeleton thing there kept following me and pushing me around. Sadly, I couldn't get near the chest with the goldcoins... Hmmm... I suppose the Linden Exchange won't take them anyhow.

In the sand dunes on the North side, there are all kinds of spookyness going on. I won't mention them all as this isn't a spoiler... Suffice to say: There's loads of stuff there to explore. If you dare.

What a cozy neighbourhood

Chests, weird sounds, a couple of bloody twins, a tiny chapel, more spooks, another happy couple and whats nuts. Back at the lighthouse I came across this particularly unlucky individual. I guess he's been sailing a bit too long... Maybe he forgot to bring his ships bisquits...

What else.. what else... Oh, there's a cute Flying Fizz, Halloween style, hehe. Here it is.

Flying Hallowizz

This next shot is what you'll see at the east pier by the lighthouse. A cannon and a skeleton... Watching the strait. He didn't fire that cannon while I was there, but I don't think anyone sailed by; Sit and wait for someone to pass and if you click the cannon it sends out a cannonball and a grey cloud of smoke.

Halloween at Tradewinds

Halloween is creeping up on us! Spooks are everywhere in SL, and there's a Halloween Boat Show running at Tradewinds YC. Loads of creepy stuff everywhere. This guy here looks kinda spooky too, but on closer inspection, it seems he is having a party.

Yohoho! I bet that's rhum

This guy here... his cousins are all over the place, but let's start with a few spooks. Yes, they are out even in the daytime, mind you, this is very early morning, so the shadows are looong and shady. I suppose that provides some kind of sun-protection for spooks. They need sun-factor 10000 or more. This next shot is a Trudeau One. It seems to have a magnetic effect on spooks.

A T-One overtaken by spooks

Well, they won't have it to themselves. Not for long. That guy in the first picture, he may not be able to sail right now. Don't drink and sail as they say. However, his cousin is on his way out there to claim the T-One. Or maybe he isn't. I didn't stop to ask. Just took the picture while pretending I was not scared.

Coming to get you

Not scary enough? I'd say a sailing dead is pretty spooky, but make no mistake. The scariest of all scary creatures in a marina is there too. The landlubbers aka the walking deads. Oh yes. They wander around in the sanddunes just north of the boathouse. And if that's not enough for you, this creature here is ready to take off and have you for breakfast.

Having that guy in the wake makes me wanna sail something extremely safe and durable such as the Nautilus or maybe just something extremely fast. In the back you see the white shadow of a transparent tallship making its way down south. Oh, and there's a bunch of bats flying around. I hate those things. Yuck.

There's boats too. Here's a Loonetta. The spooks seem to like that as well. Dunno if they had a fight with that guy hanging from the spin pole. Maybe he just likes to hang there. Incidentally, what's that flag they hoisted at the back of the boat?

Feeling a bit worn out?

There's loads more to see. There's several ghost ships, spooky tallships such as the Blake Perl and more,  spooks, bats, spiders and other yucky creatures. There's a pumpkin lighthouse and more spooky buildings to explore if you dare. Plus there's more boats. There's even a Fizz with a Halloween themed gennaker. Oh, and don't forget the sailable pumpkin. I sailed that last year. This guy right above here, he seems to have had a bit too much. Too many spooks or too much rhum. I dunno.

The Blake Perl

Those tallships are amazing. So many details. I can understand that guy there on the raft. Doing maintenance on these huge old-timers must be a lot of work. Takes a lot of rhum too I suppose. Normal tallship sailors would dip their hardtacks in the rhum, but I guess spooks they don't need to feed on stuff like hardtacks.

I could go on and I have loads of pictures, but instead I'll just invite you to go see for yourself. You'd probably need to hurry up, cause the show runs till the 31st of October. With a bit of luck it will take a few more days to clean up after the show, but once Ahab gets started deleting things... He can be very efficient. Happy Halloween... or is it trick or treat?

Who u gonna call

Walking around at Tradewinds, - "enjoying" the spooky Halloween show, I met this rather creepy ghost, and that old song came to mind... 

Boooh!

Who u gonna call: Ghostbusters! But ofcourse... Who else? There is just one minor problem; Two actually: I don't seem to have the number, and I dunno if they have an office in SL.

So I was wondering if the coastguard can help. They have impressive boats all over the virtual oceans, but this particular one wasn't manned. Again I need a number. Don't wanna send out a mayday just because of a few ghost...

Halloween bits

Here's a few more bits more from the Halloween show at Tradewinds. First there's this sub. Not entirely sure how it relates to Halloween, but dark and depressing organ tunes seem to float right out of it. Eeeek, and those bats... go away...

Then there's these two amazing creatures. They are kinda like big and little sis on both hull and saildesign. On the picture they're kinda sailing their separate ways, but in reality there is a convergence thing going on; Bigger boats begin to look more and more like dinghies.

The VO dressed up for Halloween

The Flying Halloweenish Fizz is almost as detailed, but of course there's a less winches and stuff. I especially like the ghost in the sail; It almost looks like a real class insignia.

In the back you see the entrance to the fabulous Flying Dutchman Halloween experience by Ana. Not only is  it surrounded by monsters, but there are skeletons, spooks, chains, spiders and what nuts on board, and more of it if you dare enter the maze.

The Flying Dutchman

There is a spookylicious Halloween show at Tradewinds these days. I went there and looked for the Flying Dutchman, and this is what I found:

Not really the Flying Dutchman I was looking for

Nah... the truth is that Tasha and Co have a spectacular show running, - including a very special Flying Dutchman with spooks, skeletons and what nuts crazy house effects, and that's not all, but come see for yourself. It is way bigger than last year.

With a bit of luck you might even complete the maze in the belly of the beast, and... Oh I wont reveal it all. See that pumpkin there in the middle? Looks  like it is kinda floating... What will it do? Perhaps this:

How about a sailing pumpkin

A sailing pumpkin! Complete with jib, main, mast and keel... Rumours has it there will be a race with these things. Perhaps not the sleekest and most elegant of yachts, but it does act like a sailboat.

Is that a cousin to the Lock Ness monster?

In fact it's the perfect vessel for a closer look at the Flying Dutchman and the surrounding monsters. Just add garlic and your perfectly safe...

Spooky

Speaking of spooky... Halloween is a new thing, where I live. However, kids love it, so it's probably not going away anytime soon.

Pumpkins Everywhere Inc setting up

Tasha has set up a free giftbox full of pumpkins . It's right here at Tradewinds, so here I am... playing with them. Above there is still light, and I feel safe, but later...

At night they really glow. I ought to go to that place where I landed with the chute (scroll down) and place a few pumkins there. Thanx Tasha, - these are fun. Halloween afficionados will find entire areas in SL dedicated to Halloween fun, items, gifts, experiences and what nuts.

PS: New thing? The reformation (1517) stopped All Souls Day. In 1770 the government declared All Saints discontinued. There was some kinda financial crisis, and they needed us to work more and play less. Now, it is reappearing as Halloween, and we have again a financial crisis. Hmm...
